Clarkson University Student Karlye Eastman of Henderson Inducted into National Entrepreneurial Honor Society

2012 Jan 11

The Clarkson University Reh Center for Entrepreneurship chapter of Sigma Nu Tau (SNT) national entrepreneurship honor society was chartered and twelve members were inducted in late November.

Karlye Eastman of Henderson, N.Y., a junior majoring in innovation & entrepreneurship, was inducted as one of the University's first members.

Founded at SUNY Plattsburgh in 2009 by National President Nancy Church, the mission of SNT is to recognize students, faculty, and entrepreneurs "who have either excelled in the study of entrepreneurship or who are exemplary models of principled entrepreneurship."

Ten Clarkson University students and two faculty members were inducted into Sigma Nu Tau by Church and three other members of the SNT national board of directors.

The students were selected for this high honor based on outstanding academic achievements in the innovation & entrepreneurship major at Clarkson.

Marc Compeau, director of the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship, will serve as the organization's faculty advisor, while Augustine Lado, the Richard '55 and Joy Dorf Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, will be the faculty secretary.

During the ceremony Compeau said, "It is clear that the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship shares the same passion to promote, recognize and reward academic excellence in entrepreneurship in the classroom." Clarkson provides a broad range of programs and opportunities to students.

Emily Saramak, a charter member, said, "It's great that more business students are being recognized for their entrepreneurial achievements and efforts. Hopefully it will give more students, even non-business majors, more incentive to promote how innovative they can be."
