Courtney Johnson of Liverpool Receives Award From Clarkson University

Courtney Johnson of Liverpool, N.Y., a senior at Clarkson University majoring in mathematics, received the following award(s) at the University Recognition Day ceremony during the spring semester:

The Elizabeth A. Kissel '90 Memorial Endowed Award: The Elizabeth A. Kissel '90 Memorial Endowed Award was established in 1990 by the Xerox Corporation. In May 1991, Elizabeth's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Stanley Kissel, endowed the award with a generous contribution to honor their daughter. The award recognizes an outstanding School of Business junior who has demonstrated academic achievement and possesses an energetic personality and zest for life, qualities which abounded in Elizabeth Kissel. Recipients will receive a monetary award.

Phalanx Commendable Leadership Award: This award is presented to juniors, seniors, graduate students, faculty, staff and administration members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and quality participation in organizations associated with Clarkson and the Potsdam community. The award recipients exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and the versatility to balance all aspects of college life. New Phalanx members are selected from the group of Commendable Leadership Award recipients.

Phalanx Induction: Phalanx is Clarkson's highest recognized honorary leadership society. It consists of a group of selected members of the Clarkson community who have demonstrated leadership skills and active participation in campus activities, along with above-average academic abilities, outstanding character and high morals. Phalanx was established in 1929, and each spring inducts new members into Phalanx during University Recognition Day.
