Flushing Student Wins at Clarkson University Summer Symposium on Undergraduate Research Experiences

2015 Oct 2

Clarkson University biomolecular science student Xulan Deng of Flushing, N.Y. was one of the students honored for their research presentations during the 18th annual Summer Symposium on Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) at Clarkson University.

Deng won first place in the biomedical sciences oral session. Deng's research examines Yersinia pestis, a highly virulent bacterium, and how it suppresses dendritic cell maturation in vitro.

SURE provides undergraduates a forum for presentations of research and independent projects, or other educational activities such as internships, co-ops and study abroad experiences. The goal is to celebrate all forms of scholarship and to provide an opportunity for a broad audience to appreciate work by Clarkson's undergraduate students.
