Clarkson University Bestows Top Young Alumni Award on Five Graduates
Potsdam, NY (07/25/2019) — Matt Turcotte of Clayton, N.Y., Sara Martin of Cazenovia, N.Y., Katherine Reardon of New York, N.Y., Lauren Thomas of Berlin, C.T., and Matt Keil of Penfield, N.Y., have all received the Woodstock Award from their alma mater, Clarkson University.
Given each year during Reunion Weekend, the Woodstock Award honors young alumni who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty and service to Clarkson and the Alumni Association and who have used their Clarkson experience to make a notable contribution to their careers.
Matt Turcotte
Matthew Turcotte received his bachelor of science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2014. He was the first student to participate in Clarkson's Young Entrepreneur Award program.
He is the current owner and founder of Grindstone Holdings, LLC and North Shore Solutions. Since graduating, Matt has remained engaged with the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship and has attended several regional chapter alumni events. He is also active in his community and church and serves as a Board of Trustee member at Samaritan Medical Center Foundation of NNY.
Matt resides in Clayton, N.Y.
Sara Martin
Sara Martin received her bachelor of science in Civil Engineering in 1999 from the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering. She is a licensed professional engineer with over 20 years of experience in project development and management and troubleshooting of wastewater treatment systems for food and beverage companies.
After a 17 year career at O'Brien and Gere, she started her own business as the Principal of Critical Path Engineering. Sara was named a "wonder woman of water" in 2018 by Hunter Crown.
She lives in Cazenovia, N.Y.
Katherine Reardon
Katherine Reardon earned a bachelor of science in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management in 2009. After graduation, Kate worked for GE Energy before attending law school at Syracuse University College of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2013.
Hired by a Clarkson alumnus, now trustee Peter Devlin, Katherine works as Associate in the litigation group at Fish & Richardson, P.C. Her practice focuses on patent, copyright and trademark litigation for leading tech companies in district courts across the country. Katherine has remained engaged with Clarkson through the Reh School of Business Rising Leaders' Council and by serving on the Alumni Association Leadership Board.
Katherine is from Little Falls, New York and currently resides in Manhattan.
Lauren Thomas
Lauren Thomas received her bachelor of science in Chemical Engineering in 2004 from the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering. She went on to earn her a master's degree from both Central Connecticut State University and Boston University.
She is currently the Director of Quality with Thule Group where she leads the development, implementation, and direction of effective quality strategies, policies, and objectives for products manufactured and sourced in North America.
Lauren has remained engaged with Clarkson by serving as an alumni admission volunteer and as Past Chapter President of the Connecticut alumni chapter.
Lauren currently resides in Berlin, C.T.
Matt Keil
Matt Keil received his bachelors of science in professional studies in Engineering and Project Management in 2009. He currently works for Bison Elevator as a project manager out of their Rochester office.
Matt has remained engaged with Clarkson by serving on the Alumni Leadership Board as the Rochester Chapter Vice President for a number of years. In that time Matt has hosted several regional alumni events including local outings to baseball and hockey games, as well as the always popular laps outing at the Watkins Glen Race Track.
Continuing to bleed green and gold through the Pep Band Alumni Association, he has yet to miss a Cold Out Gold Out weekend. His trumpet and big foam cowboy hat have become symbolic icons at both the men's and women's hockey games.
