Simoon Cannon Elected Clarkson University Trustee
Potsdam, NY (12/10/2019) — Clarkson University alumna Simoon Cannon '97 of Fayetteville, Ga., has been elected to the University's board of trustees. She will serve on the Academic Mission and People Priorities committees.
Cannon, an entrepreneur, chemical engineer, publisher and logistics expert, is the founder and CEO of Melanina LLC and a senior associate at Stillwater Associates, a transportation fuels consulting firm.
She founded Melanina LLC in 2012, the parent company for Melanina Organics and Melaland Adventures. Melanina Organics produces natural products that soothes and smoothen the sensitive skin of babies and adults with skin care problems such as atopic (eczema) and seborrheic dermatitis. Melaland Adventures publishes educational and entertainment books for kids of ages 4-12 years old.
For over 20 years Cannon held positions in the petroleum oil and gas industry.
She held various global engineering and management positions at ExxonMobil Oil Corporation from 1998 to 2014. Cannon lead global efforts spanning the upstream, midstream and downstream businesses, included negotiating with government representatives in national oil companies in the Caribbean, South America and West Africa. Prior to leaving ExxonMobil, she was named Americas Compliance Advisor setting the strategic direction on regulatory compliance of clean products and renewable fuels.
Cannon served as general manager - fuel logistics for Delta Air Lines from 2014 to 2017. She built a logistics organization to facilitate the trading and transportation of petroleum products for Delta Air Lines and its subsidiary refinery, Monroe Energy. Prior to leaving Delta she served as general manager - jet fuel quality assurance in 2017 to 2018 working alongside the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA).
She currently serves as a senior associate at Stillwater Associates consulting firm in the oil and gas industry since the summer of 2019.
Cannon received her bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Clarkson University, her master of business Administration (MBA) from the University of Maryland, College Park and recently received her doctorate in business administration (DBA) from Georgia State University.
In Academia, Cannon has also served as an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Virginia International University. She is a published author of research studies on career mindsets and business psychology.
She resides in Fayetteville, Ga., with her husband, Timothy, her son, Yanni, and her daughter, Chaya.
