Clarkson University Senior Daniel Galy of Champlain, N.Y., has received a $2,000 Power and Energy Society Scholarship from the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Graduating senior Nicholas F. Marshall of Huntington, Vt., received the Levinus Clarkson Award during Clarkson University's 121st commencement ceremony. He was selected for the $1,000 award by a vote of the full University faculty based on his scholarship and promise of outstanding achievement.

The Clarkson University Environmental Design Team won the highest award in the 2012 International Capstone Design Contest on Renewable Energy Technology (CORE2012) at Mokpo, South Korea, earlier this month. The competition is sponsored by Mokpo National University and the Offshore Wind Energy Center, both of South Korea. The following graduate students traveled to Mokpo to present the work of the design team:

This semester, Clarkson University's Clarkson School welcomed to campus its largest class in more than ten years. Five of the students who enrolled in this early college program received the Clarkson School Presidential Scholar award. Each year, only five scholars are chosen to receive this $60,000 ($15,000 per year) award. Recipients are selected based upon their high school GPA, standardized test scores, and extracurricular involvement. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Awards for sustainability to each of two Clarkson University teams that participated in the Sixth Annual National Sustainable Design Expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., this past weekend. This year, seven Clarkson students were commissioned into the U.S. Army and four students who will be commissioned in the near future were recognized. Local students at Clarkson University have been presented with the Emerging Leaders Program Award. This award is presented to students who have completed the Clarkson University Emerging Leadership Program. In order to participate, students identified as having leadership potential were nominated by Clarkson faculty and staff and selected from a competitive candidate pool. Award recipients successfully completed interactive sessions that covered topics such as: leadership theories, parliamentary procedure, program planning, public speaking, values and ethics, communication, motivation, goal setting and strategic planning.
