Markopoulos of Houston Honored with Clarkson University's Most Prestigious Alumni Award
Potsdam, NY (10/18/2018) — Jody Markopoulos of Houston, Texas, chief supply chain officer at Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE), has been honored with the Golden Knight Award by her alma mater, Clarkson University.
Presented each year during Reunion Weekend, Clarkson's most prestigious alumni award is given to alumni who have distinguished themselves either by service to Clarkson through Alumni Association activities or have demonstrated outstanding career achievement, bringing distinction to themselves and to Clarkson.
Markopoulos received her bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary engineering and management from Clarkson in 1993. She was a member of Sigma Tau Iota honor society and a founder of the Women's Center.
Markopoulos joined GE in 1993 as a member of the Management Development Program. Since then, she has served as vice president of sourcing for GE Energy, where she managed and procured more than $16 billion in materials worldwide. Later, she became president and CEO of GE Intelligent Platforms, a provider of software, hardware, services and expertise in controls, automation and embedded computing.
Prior to her current role, Markopoulos was the chief operations officer at GE Oil and Gas, where she led sourcing, manufacturing, materials, quality, EHS and global projects. She worked across GE to leverage capabilities, technologies, and efficiencies to deliver products and solutions in a customer-centric organization across more than 300 facilities worldwide.
Her successful career led her to become one of the inaugural honorees of the Women in Energy Leadership awards given by the Houston Business Journal in October 2015. She has also served as a global advisor and national co-chair of the GE's Women's Network and as a trustee at Clarkson since 2011.
