Clarkson University Clarkson School Students Receive Presidential Scholar Awards

This semester, Clarkson University's Clarkson School welcomed to campus its largest class in more than ten years. Five of the students who enrolled in this early college program received the Clarkson School Presidential Scholar award. Each year, only five scholars are chosen to receive this $60,000 ($15,000 per year) award. Recipients are selected based upon their high school GPA, standardized test scores, and extracurricular involvement. Local Residents Display Creativity at Clarkson University Digital Arts & Sciences Competition

Clarkson University's digital arts & sciences seniors exhibited their artwork at the school's third annual Digital Arts & Sciences Senior Exhibition which featured a variety of digital artwork, including 3D digital animations and 3D digital product design. This commencement weekend event showcased the graduating students' thesis projects in a screening-style exhibition. The following students participated in the exhibition:

Local Residents Receive Emerging Leader Award from Clarkson University

Local students at Clarkson University have been presented with the Emerging Leaders Program Award. This award is presented to students who have completed the Clarkson University Emerging Leadership Program. In order to participate, students identified as having leadership potential were nominated by Clarkson faculty and staff and selected from a competitive candidate pool. Award recipients successfully completed interactive sessions that covered topics such as: leadership theories, parliamentary procedure, program planning, public speaking, values and ethics, communication, motivation, goal setting and strategic planning. Local Students Join 850 Other Undergraduates in Trip to State Capital

Local Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam students joined 850 students from across New York state in Albany in February. The students met with local legislators including State Senator Darrel (D -Cape Vincent) in the senate chamber. With the unpredictability of Albany these days, Senator Aubertine was called to session early and took the opportunity to meet with Clarkson's students in the Senate Chamber. There, the students were able to see the historic Chamber and have their photo taken with Senator Aubertine on the senate dais. The students on the trip were:

Local Clarkson University Students Looking for 4,000 to Break Lap-sit Record

A group of Clarkson University students are looking to break the United States record for a lap-sit this spring and they need a few friends to help out -- more than 3,333 in total. A student group known as the Clarkson University Leadership Corps is organizing the April 17 event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Local Clarkson University Student Has Work in Bistro Art Exhibit

'Translation,' an exhibition by students from Clarkson University's Digital Arts and Sciences program, will be on display at First Crush Wine Bistro on Market Street in downtown Potsdam, N.Y., until December 31. All works on view were produced during the Algorithmic and Interactive Art class and 3D Digital Design class.

Clarkson University Students Participate in the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit

The recent Adirondack Youth Climate Summit at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, N.Y., provided an opportunity for four Clarkson University students to increase their awareness of climate change causes, solutions and implications, especially as it relates to the Clarkson campus. The summit drew high school and college students from around the region to discuss and plan ways to incorporate energy efficiency, recycling and local food resources into their lives and campuses.
